Not surprisingly the Chiltern Hills form the centre of a vast cycling community with literally dozens of local cycling groups, clubs and riders regularly making their way through the surrounding country lanes to tackle the more challenging landscape available.
So as well as all of the cyclists based within the Chilterns, here are a couple more CTC groups just outside who offer a range of rides and often venture into the hills.
CTC Oxfordshire is a hub for CTC activities across the county and slightly beyond. Their website has links to CTC groups across the county and they organise rides and social events that complement these. For example an annual ‘Century’ 100 mile ride, a series of ‘Explorer rides’ in different parts of the county, and off-road rides that are often in the Chilterns. Non-CTC members are welcome to try out riding with them before joining.
Please contact them through their Club Secretary email@example.com
The Wallingford group has rapidly become popular since it started in 2013. They currently focus on sociable rides on Sunday afternoons. The first Sunday of each month is a 20-25 mile leisurely ride, the third Sunday is a ‘slightly longer, slightly faster’ ride of about 30 miles. Both start at 1:30pm from Wallingford Market Place and both include a tea stop. Please check the website for the latest schedule. Non-CTC members are welcome to try out riding with them before joining.
